What could be more romantic for overseas visitor than exploring
Thailand's spectacular jungles on the back of a mighty elephant.
For those who have only ever seen an elephant in a zoo, elephant
trekking and camping under the starts is a dream activity of
getting back to nature. Watching from the elephant's back going
down a mountain could be a bit scary, but this great sense of
adventure is fun too.
For trekking, mountain hiking and hilltribe culture: The mountains
of Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Mae Hong Son
and the forest land on the Westem border with Myanmar, in Tak
and Kanchanaburi. For animal spotting
and bird watching: Khao Yai to
the North of Bangkok, Doi Inthanon
in Chiang Mai and other wildlife sanctuaries around the country.

area around Thailand's highest mountain is popular because of
its extensive network of trails.
- Phu Kradung The northeastern
province of Loei has long been popular with campers and hikers.
- Khao Yai National Park Close
to Bangkok, this largest of all Thailand's nature reserves has
many established trails which take hikers through a combination
of tropical forest, scrubland and up several steep hills.
- Khao Sok National Park Set in
Surat Thani Province. this park has waterfalls, caves and a
huge reservoir dotted with over 10 small island.
